Connecting the Dots

To all those who really want to connect the right dots and help our youth, marriages, families and communities

I ask that you would take this issue very seriously as it has a major impact on all of us...

I'm including the press release below specifically because it clearly calls us to look at this administration's records and actions rather than rhetoric and words.  In light of that, I also wanted to include the following article link (http://http://www.lifenews.com/state4347.html) to point out the connection between abstinence and healthy relationship education and the positive impact on many issues, and in this case specifically, lower abortion rates (just one symptom of unhealthy sexual activity outside of marriage along with teen/unwed pregnancies, STDs and emotional trauma and long-term impact, all of which always increased throughout all the years of funding and monopolization of contraceptive-promotion sex ed programs).

The connection is that while this administration and Congress are pushing for abortion and other immoral health mandates in this so-called healthcare bill, they are also removing all funding from abstinence programs and pushing them toward the failed contraceptive-promotion sex ed programs (with increased funding during this economic downturn) which have always brought on more public health problems and associated costs that will need to be paid for by... Guess who!!!  Yet, their rhetorical claims are that they want to reduce abortions, unwed/teen pregnancies, STDs, etc.!  Go figure?!?

I'll leave you to make the connection as it's very easy to do when you look at these two articles and the trends in the linked article.

Wouldn't it be so much better to teach our youth about, and how to do, healthy relationships and abstinence/healthy sexuality outside of marriage.  Abstinence and Healthy Relationship education has been proven to reduce risky sexual activity (includes literally all sexual activity outside of marriage) which is the core problem that needs to be dealt with rather than just attempting to cover up the symptoms and deceptively try to convince people that they're "helping them' (contraceptive-promotion programs that are the mantra of this administration and Planned Parenthood to which this administration is beholden - again look at the record and actions)!

Just in case you weren't able to connect the dots, here they are - Lack of, faulty or deceptive education (contraceptive-promotion sex ed) leads to unhealthy choices. Unhealthy choices lead to unhealthy relationships.  Unhealthy relationships lead to unhealthy/risky sex (sex outside of marriage). Unhealthy/risky sex leads to negative consequences (teen/unwed pregnancies, STDs, abortions, mental/emotional trauma and stress).  Negative consequences most often produce cyclical negative long-term relational problems.  On the other hand, healthy relationship/abstinence education leads to healthy choices.  Healthy choices lead to healthy relationships.  Healthy relationships lead to healthy marriages.  Healthy marriages leads to the best and healthiest sex!  Healthy sexuality leads to stronger long-term relationships that benefit marriages, families, children and our communities and country as a whole!  No contest!

So why does this administration and Congress continue to want to connect the wrong dots? There are many reasons, I would suspect, most of which have dollar signs and votes attached as the evidence is very clear that the connecting of these wrong dots is harmful and unhealthy to us all and we all end up paying, literally.  Nevertheless, we can make a difference.

Hopefully you already have but make sure you check out the article below.  Thanks and have a great day!

President Obama Misleads On Abortion Funding In Health Care Reform
August 19, 2009

Washington, D.C. - Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement after President Obama said it's a "fabrication" and "distraction" to say abortion funding is included in the health care reform plans.

"Tonight, President Obama deliberately misled the American people by dismissing the concerns of millions of Americans who have deep moral objections to their tax dollars paying for abortions. With this President, you must look at his actions because his rhetoric doesn't match his deeds.

"The President called abortion 'a distraction.' To the contrary, 3,000 unborn lives lost each day is no 'distraction' but a compelling moral tragedy. President Obama's denials are inexplicit, unsupported and factually plain wrong. He knows better, and should come clean with the American people.

"President Obama has fully demonstrated his commitment to fulfilling his stated goal of funding abortion, articulated in last year's presidential campaign. He is now attempting to obscure this commitment because of an overwhelmingly public backlash. He fully intends to fund or subsidize abortion services in the health care overhaul.

"The President knows very well that pro-abortion House and Senate Committees rejected every single amendment to keep abortion funding out of the health care overhaul. Instead, the House Energy and Commerce Committee adopted the Capps Amendments, which allows abortion coverage in the public health plan, and subsidizes health plans that cover abortion.

"This evening, President Obama stated that abortion funding in health care reform is a 'distraction.' If that is the case - then why not end this so-called 'distraction' and amend the bill to explicitly prohibit abortion funding and coverage with his health care plan?

"The Religious Left, which has blindly put their faith in this Administration's attempted takeover of health care, has repeatedly said they do not want to get into the weeds on the policy aspects of health care reform. Instead they say their focus is on the moral mandate that all people have health care.

"Ensuring that taxpayers are not forced to fund abortions and that the conscience rights of health care workers are protected is not getting into the weeds, but rather it is ensuring that health care reform is kept on a higher moral plain."
