The Normalization (and Profit) of Porn and Sexual Immorality

The Normalization (and Profit) of Porn and Sexual Immorality

Hope you're doing well as it has been a couple of months since I've posted due to an office move and all the associated complications and timing issues. I've heard from several of you wondering if they'd missed the latest blog. Thanks for the interest and encouragement, I think!?!

And now to the issue at heart.

In case you hadn't noticed (and I don't know how you couldn't have), most of what we view today in terms of media (TV, movies, music videos, even ads) are filled with sexual images and blatant innuendo. I really don't think that's new to you, but what you may not "catch" is the alarming rate with which all of these sexual/pornographic images, in ever increasing explicitness and 'boldness', have become "normal."

It is perhaps the greatest tool that the porn and other related sexual industries now have at their disposal as they denigrate women, destroy marriages, families and youth, and leave numerous other destructive outcomes in their wake.

Before I continue, I want to make sure you get a clear picture of those that I’m including in the porn and sexual denigration industries. Beyond the obvious ones—porn movie industry and mags such as Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, etc.—we must include organizations such as Planned Parenthood, SIECUS (Sexuality Information and Education Council of US), Advocates for Youth and the Kinsey Institute, along with several others who hold themselves out with the "favor" of the media, higher education, and many government entities as "sexual experts"!

The truth of the matter is that each of these organizations desires to use sex within the ideology of "Free Sex" (sex without any boundaries – moral, legal, religious or otherwise). As a matter of fact, this was Dr. Alfred Kinsey’s goal when he set out with his “junk science” research. More on his role later. Now, you will never hear them use the phrase, “Free Sex”, as they know if they 'came clean' with what they are really about--what they push on our youth, young adults and culture as a whole--there would be an uproar that would essentially shut them down. So, they use "pleasant" terms such as 'safer sex' (safer than death, perhaps, but not much else), 'contraceptive education', 'comprehensive sex education' along with 'family planning', 'reproductive health services' and 'reproductive rights' to mask their real agenda!

Their real agenda? Teen and other casual sex outside of marriage as ‘the norm’ in order to continue to make enormous profits from the devastation and destruction that follows. If that's not porn (sex for money regardless of the outcomes), then what is? And perhaps the worst part of this is that the results and outcomes over the years have always been horrific. Never once did they produce a positive outcome, even though they implied that they did, research never backed it up! At least the porn industry lets you know what they are about. The aforementioned organizations cover it up, at all costs, in order to continue their destructive path and the tremendous profits they make from the results!

In case you are still wondering about the connection between these organizations and the "normalization" of porn, you don't need to watch MTV or BET; PG, R or NC-17 rated movies or risque TV. Without any ratings, many TV ads directly or indirectly promote contraception, condoms and other products with much the same appeal as the porn industry does. Take a look at the ads for herpes, HPV, condoms, not to mention TAG body spray and Chevy ads that blatantly promote sexual immorality and finally, one of the most common, targeting men, Male Enhancement products – FREE SEX is the agenda and goal! Regardless of the cost to our youth and their futures, they pursue it!

Unfortunately, I see the latter ads while watching sporting events as they are constantly bombarding us during these athletic contests. They read like a script from a "porn movie." Eye contact across a crowded bar or room; a nod towards an upstairs rendezvous, then the explicit “connection” after all the “work they’ve done to build the relationship,” and finally, they talk about how easily the male can "respond" and how the female is looking forward to it. All this happens without any conversation, no relationship (although one of the ads did recently change their script—not the actors/actresses—to being a supposed "married" couple) and, outside this parenthetical note, definitely no long term committed relationship known as marriage as a prelude to great sex. In reality, maybe a few moments of pleasure followed by many moments of doubt, apprehension, depression and lowered self-worth. But then again, that would ruin the chances of achieving their goals – FREE SEX and the related forthcoming profits!

Unfortunately, young people can view any/all of these types of ads with little or no resistance/ supervision, making it very easy to excuse, should they be exposed to them, the opening lines/scenes of porn movies (eye contact, insinuation that sex is next and then supposedly exciting sex to follow) as something interesting and worthwhile. After all, these are about the only scenes in a porn movie that are not pornographic, per se. They are then easily caught up in the deception before their young, developing minds know what is happening with the damaging seeds already planted.

If you're still struggling to make the connection between the media and how ‘normal’ porn and sexual immorality have become, let me just tie it all together for you. Alfred Kinsey began the "Free Sex" movement in the late 1930s through The Kinsey Institute at Indiana University with funding from various 'philanthropic' foundations—mainly Rockefeller and later Carnegie and others. As the media and higher education was used to push Kinsey's pornographic junk research as legitimate "science", it became apparent that there was much profit to be made by normalizing all of this through education, media, government and higher education as briefly explained above.

Sexual immorality and its profits were the path taken and when the leading foundations began to step aside, Kinsey easily found new funding through a very advantageous young man named Hugh Hefner and his fledgling porn company, Playboy. That was 1964 and as they say, “the rest is history,”… a very bad history!

SIECUS and Planned Parenthood came on board. Think about it, self-proclaimed "sex experts" following after the "king of porn." While they may have been deceptive and lacking any wisdom, you can’t accuse them of lacking the acumen and intelligence to make a profit as they've done so ever since to the detriment of our youth, marriages, family and society.

We must stand and fight for a return to sanity and wisdom with regard to healthy relationships and sexuality. Don't be mistaken—none of the groups mentioned above has ever had healthy relationships and sexuality as their goal. If they did they would have seen the tragic and objective results brought upon our youth, marriages, families and communities and changed their direction. That has never happened as they continue to make strange and "not so strange" bedfellows!

Still not convinced? Check it out yourself. Go to their websites and read through them (if you can) and you'll see exactly what they deem good and safe for your kids! Go to some of the sites they recommend and promote (www.goaskalice.com; www.teenwire.com (Planned Parenthood's site); www.sexetc.org and www.positive.org are just a few). You'll definitely get the idea of how much they care for your children! As a matter of fact, here are a couple of sites (warning) that will give you very clear info about what they promote to youth/children regarding being sexually active and "safe" - www.positive.org/JustSayYes/moresafe.html and www.positive.org/JustSayYes/prosex.html (I purposely did not link these sites so that you will have to determine whether you want to pursue this further on your own, but please be warned).

If you choose to check it out, notice how closely the info resembles the porn that we've come to so easily accept in our culture today. Of course it does as it passed off as expert education!  Maybe, as this is exposed, we will find more and more people with wisdom and boldness to stand and do something about it!

We need to—no, we MUST!

You see, when you really look at the price paid as this “Free Sex” agenda has become ‘normal’, it’s really not free at all! It costs a lot! And it’s costing our children most of all!

Please join me if you would like to be among those who boldly work to do something about it for the sake of our youth and their health, futures and lives!
